Despite the fact that the iPhone is considered an almost perfect phone, there are times when users complain about various bugs and problems.

This problem can occur on almost any iPhone, be it iPhone 5S, 6, 6S, 7 or even 8. The range of devices is quite large, so we will figure out what to do in this situation.

Why doesn't the rear camera work on iPhone? What to do?

We use the camera quite often and therefore its correct operation is very important for every user.

Let's try to consider what options there are to solve the problem:

  1. Crashes happen in any program; simply closing and opening the program may help.

    Just go to the multitasking menu and close the application completely (press Home twice and swipe the application up (iPhone 8 and older); swipe from the bottom to the center and swipe the program up (iPhone X and newer));

  2. Switch to the front camera. Another solution to the problem could be simply switching to the front camera.

Then, you switch back to the rear camera and the black screen may disappear.

  3. Turn off VoiceOver. No matter how strange it may sound, very often the problem occurs when VoiceOver is enabled.

Settings - General - Accessibility - VoiceOver - turn off

Therefore, let's go to SettingsBasicUniversal access— turn it off. After that, wait a little and launch the Camera application again, the problem may have already disappeared.

  4. This is probably the most popular way to get rid of the annoying black screen in your camera.

Clamp side button until the Shutdown slider appears. Swipe it to the right and after turning it off completely, wait 30 seconds. Turn it on again, holding down the same side button, and check the camera.

  5. We update iOS. Almost every new version of iOS has some drawbacks. Therefore, it is possible that a software update could be the solution.

Settings - General - Software Update

To install a new iOS versions, just go to SettingsBasicSoftware Update. Don't forget to do backup copy before the update.

One of these options may help you. But I would like to remind you that if your device has been dropped or has some kind of defect, it is best to contact a service center where they can diagnose and repair your iPhone.

“Why doesn’t the camera work on my iPhone?” - an interesting question, especially considering the proprietary quality of all components from Apple. The manufacturer company itself responds in the same way to tons of messages with complaints that appeared after the release of iOS 9.1.X: your camera is damaged, everything is fine with the firmware.
When the number of complaints approached the number of people in a small town, specialists from various services began to independently find out why the camera on the iPhone 5s and other models did not work. Of course, some of their conclusions are just speculation, but what they found is thought-provoking.

If you are ready to spend time on repairing it yourself and save money, read on, but keep in mind: all tips are advisory in nature and are not instructions.

Causes of failure

Several main reasons have been identified why the camera on the iPhone 5s stopped working (this model was the “guinea pig”):

  1. Error in new updateiOS. It arose after an attempt to reduce the power consumption of the camera and flash during shooting.
  2. Hardware failure that disables the camera. It would seem that when the iPhone 5 camera does not work, there is a black screen with the words “Flash is off. The iPhone requires cooling before using the flash” indicates that the flash is broken, so it is logical to turn it off altogether. Unfortunately, a camera with a flash is a single unit, and therefore they cannot fail separately, which means there is an error in the operation of the equipment.
  3. Non-original camera installed. When buying a phone secondhand, be prepared for such unpleasant surprises: Apple has an extremely negative attitude towards components installed without their knowledge, and therefore has every right to write firmware only for original components. You can ask the previous owner why the camera on iPhone 5 does not work, because this may not be the first time.
  4. The train has come off. In case of falls, shocks and other mechanical impacts, the cables can tear, become detached or partially damaged, so the front camera on iPhone 5 very rarely does not work, because its cable is more securely fixed (which cannot be said about the rear one).
  5. Water got in. Up to version 6-7, all iPhones are afraid of water, so even a timely dried device may freeze or lose some functions over time. Believe me, if after a flood the camera on your iPhone does not work, the black screen of which is displayed in a working system, then you are very lucky.

Whatever the cause of the breakdown specifically in your device, the algorithm of actions is the same on all models. Please note: you need to act carefully and confidently, so if you doubt your abilities, it is better to contact an official service center.

Camera doesn't work on iPhone 5s: how to fix it

The entire process of fixing this problem yourself can be divided into several stages that differ in complexity.

Magic in iOS

At this stage, you have to perform actions that, according to user observations, can help, but are not explained logically.

  1. Uninstall all applications that can use the camera (except standard ones).
  2. Turn on or off the power saving mode, depending on the state it was in at the time of the breakdown.
  3. Switch cameras until the picture appears. When the camera on the iPhone 5s does not work on one side, the other should be in working order.

This step requires some knowledge about handling iPhone. Apple officials offer the following tips to resolve the issue:

  1. Perform a hard reboot using the POWER+HOME buttons, holding for 7-8 seconds.
  2. Reset all settings and content.

If after this the camera on the iPhone does not work, then restore the previous or current firmware via DFU mode. On this useful tips from Apple are running out. WITH original devices this almost always helps, but it is more difficult to “cure” devices that have been repaired.

Opinion of service centers

If after the manipulations the rear wheel still does not work iPhone camera 5s, then the conclusion suggests itself: you need to disassemble the iPhone and study its insides. Doing this yourself is highly not recommended for those who are not able to at least correctly reassemble a disassembled mechanism, not to mention more subtle machinations.

Previously, there were few photographs, and even fewer videos. We photographed what was happening on film using various cameras, creating a personal story.

With the advent of such a device, everything has changed dramatically. This device (iPhone) given time confidently occupies a leading position among smartphones in this class.

The iPhone is a powerful mini-computer. With its help, high-resolution photographs are taken, good quality video. With this device you can not only take beautiful pictures, but also store them on your device. You can send the footage to your friends via the World Wide Web.

So the iPhone is a complete device for modern life. This is a phone, equipment for photography, video shooting, a mini-computer, three in one, so to speak.

But there is one small hitch. The software of this cute thing needs to be updated from time to time. It is unclear for what reasons, after the update software, the camera on the iPhone 5s does not work, black screen, flash, flashlight.

When I try to turn on the camera, the screen turns black.

iPhone camera and its problems

This article will look at the iPhone 5s camera. There are moments when you want to shoot and capture an interesting moment, but instead of the usual camera window, you see a black screen.

Possible causes of the malfunction:

  • moisture entering the device;
  • breakage from impact;
  • settings failure when updating the device;
  • product defect.

How to determine the cause in your case will be discussed in this article. As you can see, there are several reasons for this trouble. You read about the first reason a little earlier. This problem appears after updating the software version.

A possible reason could be damage from an impact if you accidentally dropped your device. When you hit a hard surface, the cable from the camera or the battery simply moves.

The next reason may be moisture getting into the device. This happens even from a fall on wet grass, and if the fall was in water, then the moisture that got inside the device is to blame.

There are many reasons, as a rule, they all come from shock, moisture and program jambs on the device. Now you know about the most common reasons why a black screen appears when you turn on your device’s video camera.

Debugg

Now is the time to talk about fixing this problem. You need to remember when the black screen started to appear when you turned on the camera on your smartphone.

If this begins to happen after software updates, it means that the updated device software is buggy.

You can fix this glitch by simply rebooting the device, or turning on the rear view camera several times, then the front view camera, this step is often enough.

But, if this action is not successful, then you need to go through all the troubleshooting steps described in the iPhone support tips.

Such steps may turn out to be useless, then you need to look inside, but if your device is not yet out of warranty, then you don’t need to look inside the iPhone yourself. Take your device to the dealership where you purchased it and let them resolve this issue.

The camera on the iPhone 5s does not work, black screen as a result of a fall

If your device starts showing a black screen when you turn on the camera after you dropped it, then this problem occurred after receiving a shock.

As a rule, an impact causes the camera cable or battery to dislodge. In this case, you need to remove the iPhone cover and switch the camera cable or fix the battery.

Sometimes iPhones are not repaired in official stores. After such a repair, the replaced cable does not have a special fixing film. Therefore, at the slightest shake, the cable jumps out of the socket.

There is only one piece of advice: have the device repaired in official stores, otherwise you will always need to remove the cover of the device and fix the cable yourself.

Moisture entering the device

In this case, you will have to change the camera module; unfortunately, it is impossible to disassemble it. When the iPhone falls on a wet surface, moisture enters the camera module through the microphone hole.

This design feature appeared in the design of the iPhone 5s. For this reason, water flows into the module, after which the camera fails.

If you are afraid to replace the module yourself, take your device to a service center. There the technician will change the module and the device will become operational again. Although there are instructions with sequential steps for replacing the camera module, they can be found on the World Wide Web.

So treat your device with care, otherwise at the right moment your iPhone will malfunction and you will miss a beautiful episode that will never happen again.

One day you may find that the main camera iPhone Apple 5S doesn't work. It happens that the flash, flashlight and front camera also do not work. The reasons why the camera does not work on the iPhone 5S are quite different. In this article we will look at different cases and, most importantly, we will fix the camera ourselves.

In the iPhone 5S, the front camera, flash, flashlight and front camera are interconnected. When the iPhone camera is not working, when you press it, a black screen appears and a message is displayed: “iPhone requires cooling before using the flash.” This is evidence that the flash on the iPhone 5 does not work.

First, try starting a hard reboot mode by simultaneously pressing two buttons - Power and Home for 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears, after a minute turn on the device.

If this does not help, try updating the content by resetting all settings on your iPhone to factory settings. But before that, don't forget to copy all data from iPhone via iTunes program, if the data is more than 5 Gigabytes, to another device. Or upload files to the cloud via iCloud program, if the storage of copied data is over 5 Gigabytes. After resetting the iPhone, try starting the camera, but if it doesn’t work, then the problem seems to be somewhere else.

Helps some iOS update to version 10 to reset the system error due to old software. But it doesn't always help if it's not system error, but still a technical breakdown on the iPhone 5 or iPhone 6.

Eliminating the causes of iPhone 5S camera failure

As a rule, the cause of a non-working flash can be a fall of the iPhone, moisture getting into it, failure of the board or microcircuit, or the unsuitability of the flash itself. You need to know how to clean the camera on the iPhone 5. In any case, in order to determine exactly what is wrong with your iPhone camera not working, you will still have to disassemble the device.

To do this, we will arm ourselves with the following tools: a plastic pick or spatula, a special set of screwdrivers, tweezers, a suction cup with a ring for opening the display, a rubber mat and containers for bolts, so as not to confuse which is which when reassembling.

After all the tools are ready, turn off the iPhone 5S by first removing the SIM card, holding down the Power button and the Home button at the same time for 10-20 seconds until the “Apple” logo appears, as well as the shutdown sound.

Using a special Phillips screwdriver, unscrew two bolts on the bottom end panel of the iPhone, near the connector. Then we attach it to the glass of the screen in the middle from below, above Home button, a suction cup with a ring and, holding the smartphone by the body with one hand, carefully and smoothly pull the suction cup ring with the other hand to separate the screen from the rest of the iPhone. If the screen does not give in immediately, carefully, without damaging the case, insert the sharp end of a pick into the bottom slot to move it around the perimeter of the display in order to help unfasten the latches, now again carefully pull the ring.

Don’t forget that the iPhone 5S screen is attached with a fingerprint sensor cable on the opening side, near the touchscreen. Therefore, do not lift the screen at a right angle without first unfastening the cable using tweezers or a plastic spatula.

After the bottom cable is disconnected, you need to detach the top cables that attach the sensor and cameras. Sometimes at such a moment you can visually determine that the camera cable has already been disconnected; apparently, when the iPhone was dropped, the latch moved and the cable became unfastened, therefore, most likely, the camera does not work. Then you need not to further disassemble the iPhone, but, on the contrary, carefully connect all the cables in the reverse order and, without tightening the bolts, turn on the iPhone. On touch screen try to turn on the flash that was not working, if it works (turns on and off, the flashlight works), then the problem has been fixed at this stage. All that remains is to assemble the iPhone by tightening the bolts.

Chip repair

But the problem is not always so easily resolved. If you have connected all the cables, but the camera does not work, then the breakdown is more serious and we will disassemble the iPhone further. Having unfastened all the cables, he unscrews the bolts on the side panels of the smartphone, which secure the iPhone display to the body.

We remove the protective film around the flash and disconnect the camera cable itself, and then take it out. If upon visual examination it is determined that the camera is working, we reconnect it; it is possible that the problem is in the contacts or the microcircuit. Usually, if the iPhone has been disassembled more than once, the protective film has been removed and now, with a slight shock, the camera cable easily snaps off and flies out. Therefore, it is important to keep the protective film on your camera.

The next step is to unscrew the bolts holding battery. And then remove the bolts from the chip boards. We take out the tray from under the SIM card. We take out the microcircuit and unfasten the antenna. We install the microcircuit itself on a special clamp holder and use a special device for cleaning boards to warm up the microcircuit in the camera area, having previously installed a pair of radiators to remove heat.

After that, using a special napkin and tweezers, we clean the connections on the microcircuit, gently wipe the glass plates and let the board cool. Next, we will connect the board into place in the iPhone, snapping all the cables in the reverse order and screwing all the bolts into place with a Phillips screwdriver. Next, launch the camera by turning on the iPhone. If the camera turns on when you touch its icon, then the problem has been resolved.

If the camera does not turn on again, it means that the circuit is interrupted somewhere and therefore power (charge) is not supplied to the board. Using the device, we will determine where there is weak power on the microcircuit or no power at all. For example, when ringing the circuit, a non-working capacitor or track may be detected. Then it is necessary to establish contact by replacing the capacitor with a working one and re-soldering the connection.

After performing these manipulations, do not forget to ring the microcircuit to ensure there is no short circuit. If everything is in order, you can install the microcircuit in place by connecting all the cables in the required order, installing the film in place and securing the bolts. After this, we turn on the iPhone and also launch the camera to check its working condition. As a rule, after this procedure, the cameras resume their operation - front and rear.
